Psychodynamic Psychotherapy & Psychoanalysis
David Angelich, Psy. D.
I offer psychoanalytic psychotherapy and psychoanalysis for adults, as well as emotional and psychological assessment for children, adolescents, and adults. I work with people who are struggling with painful symptoms or with patterns that feel hard to change. Together, we look honestly at what may be getting in the way, including the subtle ways we all protect ourselves from difficult truths. Within the safety of a supportive therapeutic relationship, this kind of self-understanding can open the door to real change. The people I work with often find that our work leads to greater emotional freedom, more meaningful relationships, and a stronger sense of authenticity and direction.
People come to treatment at many different points in their lives. Some are working through anxiety, depression, loss, or other forms of acute suffering. Others come because longstanding emotional difficulties or patterns in their relationships have begun to feel limiting, or because earlier therapy has helped in some ways but has not produced the kind of lasting change they are seeking. Psychoanalytic work creates space for these experiences to be understood, rather than only managed, and for meaningful change to take shape over time.
Beginning therapy can feel difficult or uncertain, especially for people who are used to managing things on their own or who have felt misunderstood in past relationships or treatments. I aim to provide a thoughtful and collaborative space where difficult emotions and patterns can be explored with honesty, curiosity, and without judgment.
I maintain a private practice in Bethesda, Maryland, and provide telehealth services in PSYPACT-participating states.
